Mrs. Durano is from Wichita where she graduated from Southeast High School. She has a degree from Wichita State University in Elementary Education and a masters in Educational Administration. She has been teaching for sixteen years.
Mrs. Durano is married to Tony. They have two children, Lauren, who is a junior at Andover High School and Alex, who is an eighth grader at Andover Middle School. It's a good thing that Mrs. Durano enjoys sports because she spends lots of her spare time going to their games. (Lauren is a cheerleader and is on the track team. Alex is on the cross country team and basketball teams) In addition to that, she enjoys attending WSU basketball games.
Another of her hobbies is helping with scouting. Both Lauren and Alex are in scout troops and Mrs. Durano is a leader for the high school Girl Scout troop in Andover. She also helps out with the Boy Scout troop where her son is a member.
A favorite activity for Mrs. Durano is traveling. She has been fortunate enough to have traveled to Italy this past summer where she went on a cruise. While on shore, she got to go to Pompeii and see the ruins caused by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
When asked what the best part about teaching is, she responds, "No day is ever the same. There is always something exciting going on and being around kids is lots of fun!"
