Encyclopedia Brown Plays

We are going to do several Encyclopedia Brown plays.  We will perform them for other classes.  We each have a case.  My case is “The Case of the Happy Nephew.”  There are others like, “The Case of the Knife in the Watermelon.”  We are really looking forward to it.  You can come if you would like to see them.  We will perform them on May 18^th from 1:00-2:00.

Mother’s Day

May 10^th is Mother’s Day.  I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.  You should go out to eat at your mother’s favorite place because it is her special day.  We also hope you enjoy the gift we made you.

Field Day

Field day is coming up.  It will be on May 14^th from 9:00-11:00.  There will be belly bumpers and fishing for marbles.  It’s going to be fun!  Parents are welcome to come and watch.  Bring your cameras if you do!

Science Experiment

In science, we did an experiment.  First we each made a bug out of construction paper.  Then half the class put their heads down on their desk and hid their eyes while the other half hid their bugs.  Then afterwards the other kids tried to find the bugs.  After that we talked about which ones were hard to find and which ones were easy to find.  Eventually, everyone figured out that the ones that were harder to find were camouflaged.  Then we hid the bugs again.  They were much harder to find when everyone tried to camouflage their bug.  I loved this experiment.

Animal Reports

We wrote animal reports in Mrs. Thengvall’s room.  We just finished the final copy.  On May 19^th we will have animal day.  On animal day, we will all share our reports and bring books from home about animals.  Then we will make an animal puppet.  Maybe we’ll do a puppet show!

Last Day of School

We are getting out of school on May 20^th.  That is earlier than the school calendar says.  We will be here for a full day on the 20^th.  It will be a really fun day.
